LPC Impacts on Imams and Society

We feel proud The American Center Bangladesh, U.S.A Embassy Dhaka organized English Language Proficiency Training for Madrasha Teachers and Imams (Religious Leaders)
In the meantime LPC has successfully completed 2nd Batch where about 25 Imams. And about 100 Madrasha Teachers- Imams are waiting to Participate in 3rd Batch. We some of Imams are so lucky have got opportunity to Participate in this 08 months Training program in First Batch.
Before LPC most of Imams have very few knowledge in English Language so they don’t have any chance to gain proper knowledge on English book or reading English Newspapers, Magazine, English culture, Glorious History, Education, Social welfare activities and communicational skills, English teaching skills etc. Participating in LPC an Imam boost his confidence on the above skills to the society. He can perform easily in the Mosqoue, Madrasha and society. Imams are very glad by getting chance to improve them.
Once upon there was a negative mark in the society about America, It’s Culture and Muslims Community. But now a day all understand what America is wishing to Muslims community. The Religious leaders Imams are trying to change attitude of the society. Imams are delivering positive speech in the society About America, It’s Culture and Muslims Community. When they are giving KHUTBA in Jumma prayer, or any other occasion and gathering. It has possible for LPC because LPC is a great platform to meet and sharing information, knowledge, Idea, Teaching & Learning skills.
In a ward Imams are achieving a lot from LPC. Such as creative thinking, making dialogue, Teaching Skills. Communicative English, 4 skills of Learning English, How to make an English classroom successful, environment of English teaching, Preparing Lesson Plan, Talking in English with each others etc.
As an Imam and trainee of LPC I would like to express my views as “When I was without training English I did work experience working with children and I was really interested in how manage English environment. some of them found it very hard. I probably had more contact time than all my friends on other courses, which made it hard because I had to go in for classes and society more often, but I really enjoyed the placements and learning from LPC training. I’m currently spending my working in Nure Muhammadi Jame Mosque in Chandgaon, Chittagong As an Imam and Khatib, and also As a Madrasha Teacher I hope to work with a lot of students in my Madrasha specialised on English Language Proficency which is helping my students vigorously to prepare them for 21st centry devlopment skills to goal’’
The LPC is based on a spiral curriculum, meaning trainees are introduced to all aspects of English teaching and communicating in english of the course which is suitable for Madrasha Teachers and Imams and revisit them with increasing complexity in Future. There is no doubt that under direct supervision of our honourbale Trainer LPC course contains a great advantage for the Teachers and Imams.
For giving us a great opportunity to Particpate in LPC I would like to pay a gratitude & many thanks to Honourable Director, Coordinators, Trainers, all officials of The American Center Bangladesh, and U.S.A Embassy Dhaka especially to Mr. Jabed, Mrs. Sabreen S. Rahman, and Mr. Abu Ala Md. Hosham Uddin Sir.

Video Conference

It was lovely to see all of our Local and UK Partners today on the videoconference, although there seemed to be some technical problems with the sound!! It was a great shame that we were not able to speak with each other and discuss the rights if the child as planned, maybe if we ever try video conferencing again we should use smaller groups and as it seemed to work better?
Nevertheless, I know that our students enjoyed seeing their friends in Bangladesh and I think some of them were typing short messages to each other too. It's a promising start!
I was talking to some of our teachers this morning about their project ideas for next year, and they seem keen to do some work on identity: "Who am I?" "How do I fit into my local community?" "What is my place within the local area / region?" "How about on a national level?" "And internationally?" They think this could be tied into looking at the Geography of the local areas in the UK and Bangladesh, as well as religion and history. Some of the schools would also be keen to show their responses to these questions in the form of a dance / drama. Collages could also be created to show what each student / group of student’s thinks defines best who they are. These are only loose ideas, which we will work on over the next few weeks, but please could you send us ideas from your cluster in the meantime, so that we can ensure that all partners get to make equal contributions?
Many thanks to all for hard working to organize the videoconference.

Really It was a great opportunity

On June 8th, U.S. Embassy Dhaka hosted a reception to mark the 234th anniversary of the United States’ independence. His Excellency James F. Moriarty US Ambassador to Bangladesh and His wife Mrs. Lauren Moriarty invited me to attend in this celebration.

Really it was a great opportunity in my life to meet Excellency Member of the Diplomatic cores, Honorable Ministers, Political, Social Leaders, Journalist, chief of police, a lot of Enthusiastic, distinguished guests and also Honorable High officials of U.S. Embassy Dhaka Bangladesh.

His Excellency James F. Moriarty’s speech inspired me to do better activities for the people and also knowing about U.S. Culture, society, and friendship with USA-Bangladesh. In this speech was a valuable, informative and magnetic attraction for all

His Excellency Ambassador Moriarty said, “Quite simply, we seek a world of prosperity and freedom. In the face of global challenges—climate change, global recession, and transnational terrorism—all countries of good faith must cooperate to build a better world. The U.S. and Bangladesh must be partners on the great issues of the 21st century. I am proud to say that the U.S.-Bangladesh friendship is stronger than at any time before.”===
I would like to pay a gratitude and heartily thanks to all of Honorable Officials US Embassy Dhaka, His Excellency Ambassador Moriarty and his wife Lauren Moriarty and the American Center Bangladesh for giving me this excellent, wonderful, knowledgeable evening in my life.

We feel proud

We feel proud and really very much happy hearing about the passing 13 story Mosque and Islamic cultural center Building Project in Ground Zero New York City
Today (May 31, 2010) I published news in the Daily News Papers in Bangla on this winning moment of Muslims, ASMA and Cordoba Initiative. I also write it on our famous Bangla and English BLOG.

We think this is a great victory for ASMA, and Cordoba Initiative and also for Muslims Community over the world, most of all the victory is so larger than the " media frenzy and hate campaigns’’ because the project passed by 29-01 Vote. The Honorable Mayor and other organizations supported vigorously to make a historical 13-story mosque near ground zero

We thank to all of ASMA, Cordoba Initiative and all who have heartily worked for this great victory

We pray to Almighty Allah for better health, mental strength and long live, of our hard working Idol Honorable Mrs. Daisy Khan, Mr. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and Ms Rushda Majeed
May Allah bless all of you
